Topic Abstract: Visual Requirements-Driven Development with UML 2.0
|
It has become all too frequent that the systems we deliver fail to satisfy basic business requirements. A generation of developers has either forgotten or never learned the difference between verification and validation, let alone applied them to their development processes. Consequently, it should not be surprising that most software and system projects are late and over budget. This presentation discusses how software and systems development can benefit from a development approach that starts with requirements and uses them to drive the entire system lifecycle. To make this approach work it advocates the tight integration of requirement analysis with visualization modeling techniques, using the evolving UML 2.0 standard. The approach is rigorous, yet flexible, and when used with tools that support UML 2.0 can automate system verification and validation. Applying this approach throughout the system lifecycle can dramatically increase productivity and quality, which will reduce costs and time to market. |
