Topic Abstract:

What if there was a way to improve your schedule, and to make the schedule

more realistic? What if your system identified the true essential paths

rather than the traditional critical paths? What if you could manage your

resources with respect to when they would really be needed? What if there

was a way to leverage hidden capacity?

There is! It's called "Critical Chain Management"

Critical Chain Project Management

Software developers, construction companies, merchant banks, pharmaceutical manufacturers and many other types of companies have changed how they manage projects. The reason? A dramatic change in project management has reduced project duration by up to 50% in many cases! Critical Chain, a new application of the Theory of Constraints (TOC), has produced phenomenal and tangible results in project management.

Why Should You Attend?

Are you trying to reduce the time required to launch new products? Do your projects often run over budget? Does the project schedule often slip? Do your projects always seem to require last minute disaster control to meet established due dates? Are you tired of believing that your project is 90% complete, only to find that completing the last 10% took as long as the first 90%? Or do you often have to downsize the scope of projects in midstream because of budget and schedule constraints? It is exactly these frustrations that Critical Chain resolves.

How Does Critical Chain Work?

In the last 40 years, nothing much has changed in project management. Traditional project management has relied on four fundamental assumptions. They are:

Unfortunately, all four of these assumptions are invalid!

How does Critical Chain do things differently? By focusing on the global success of the project, rather than the individual tasks, everyone is working to the same goal. By introducing new concepts such as project buffers, feeding buffers, resource buffers and a new way to establish the truly important focal points in a project, projects can be managed so much better. The changes Critical Chain brings to project management not only significantly reduce project duration, they have allowed management to guarantee virtually 100% due date delivery performance. The bottom-line impacts of Critical Chain have been tremendous.
