Topic: Mastering Process Improvement
Mastering Process Improvement presents a structured compendium of best practices in CMM-based process improvement. This presentation addresses the intertwined challenges facing change agents including technical issues (e.g., process and metrics) and social issues (e.g., resistance, buy-in, and institutionalization). This briefing proposes a CMM-based process improvement approach called Process Change Methodology (PCM). PCM focuses on the process improvement activities that occur following a CMM-Based Appraisal. Also covered is how new SEPGs can work towards achieving Maturity Level 2 while positioning their organization for the future challenges of Maturity Level 3.
The eight stages of PCM are :
1. organize and prepare
2. conduct organizational scan
3. establish technical working groups
4. understand project's current state
5. redesign the process
6. develop the whole product solution
7. conduct pilot(s) and evaluate
8. facilitate organizational learning
